One day, “The Money Talks Podcast” will make these types of lists.
I know it. I’m claiming it.
Until then, let me share my favorite money podcasts. Each one has been pivotal for me. They’ve each made me smarter with money, provided encouragement, fueled ideas and introduced various strategies I can use.
That’s why I can’t get enough financial podcasts.
I’m learning from just listening.
I told you last April that I’ve lost my stomach for mindless content. I grew out of most vulgar music long ago. And I’m over hearing the same 50 songs — and the same 20 that have been sampled from them.
No longer can I listen to material that doesn’t stimulate my mind. And so podcasts — money podcasts — have become my preferred method of entertainment.
They’re troves of free information that can transform our lives.
Here are my favorite six.
The Money Guy Show: One of the most popular financial podcasts, hosts Brian Preston and Bo Hanson shine by breaking down complex money topics into easily understandable principles. I’ve mentioned the show before as one of the first I began binge-listening. The format, which includes detailed answers to listener-submitted questions, helped me to learn money concepts I’d missed but desperately needed to implement. If you’re not sure where to start in ironing out your finances, give this podcast a try. It made a huge difference for me.
Afford Anything: Likable personalities can make a great podcast as much as its content. Thanks to the amazing Paula Pant, founder and host of “Afford Anything,” this show offers both. Pant is sharp. Yet she has incredible touch with both how she relays information and interviews interesting guests. She’s truly brilliant. I was a little star struck when I met her at FinCon last October. Pant was a co-star in the Netflix documentary “Get Smart with Money.” But Pant also is a peach of a person and was extraordinarily kind. Dive into this podcast and you’ll learn about a variety of financial topics, hear from an assortment of experts and a who’s who of others with fascinating experiences.
Millionaire Mindsets: This was my favorite and most listened to podcast in 2023. It’s packed with so much insight that I went back to the show’s beginning from December 2018 and began listening to every episode until I finally catch up. With successful entrepreneurs from all walks of life featured as guests, I’ve learned something from every episode. Host Xavier Miller, who I was fortunate to meet briefly at Invest Fest last August, is a young but successful entrepreneur and family man who many men can learn from. But he has an affable style and wide-reaching relationships that make his guests feel at ease for what turns into casual but illuminating conversations.
Motley Fool Money: A daily show on business news and financial headlines that keeps you current in just 20-40 minutes each day. I especially needed this show after becoming an investor. It gave me a better understanding of the economy. It offers thorough analysis that consistently adds context for how some of the world’s biggest companies operate. It’s probably not the podcast for those who don’t have a strong interest in business news. But it’s not too advanced for beginners.
Million Bazillion: A podcast about money for children and their families, “Million Bazillion” helped my daughter Parker become more interested in learning about money. We grew into fans of this show late in 2022, just before Parker’s 8th birthday. The format is great for teaching young children many of the basics of money. Chances are good that adults will learn a thing or two as well. The best part is the discussion possibilities that open between parent and child after each episode. It’s a perfect show for teaching and spending quality time with your little ones.
Millionaires Unveiled: Only recently did I find this one. But after “Millionaire Mindsets” was my top podcast in 2023, I wouldn’t be surprised to see “Millionaires Unveiled” become my most listened to podcast in 2024. The only difference is I’m consuming this show in reverse order, going from newest to oldest. There currently are 346 episodes. I plan to make it through all of them. In nearly every episode, everyday millionaires and multi-millionaires are interviewed about their decisions, strategies and investment portfolios. It’s the cheat code I wish I had as a child and one I squandered too much time failing to seek as an adult. But in this podcast, there are hundreds of repeatable blueprints for how to build wealth. I’m already using several.
Can’t get enough Money Talks?
What up, Darnell. Thanks for sharing. I’m taking my first ever step in the stock market with $1k only for now. I’ve been heavily studying certain high growth industries and decided to get in at a relatively modest point in DraftKings. The gambling industry is new and already in the hundreds of billion dollars. Any thoughts on my approach? I know you can’t comment on specific stocks but do you agree we’re still at the ground floor of a new industry with exponential growth potential? The cannabis industry is another one I’m considering.
