What up, Darnell. Thanks for sharing. I’m taking my first ever step in the stock market with $1k only for now. I’ve been heavily studying certain high growth industries and decided to get in at a relatively modest point in DraftKings. The gambling industry is new and already in the hundreds of billion dollars. Any thoughts on my approach? I know you can’t comment on specific stocks but do you agree we’re still at the ground floor of a new industry with exponential growth potential? The cannabis industry is another one I’m considering.

Hi John. Congratulations on taking your first step. That’s really exciting, and I’d love to hear updates on your progress if you’re comfortable sharing.

Looking at companies in industries with growth potential sounds like a smart approach to me and one I was advised to utilize when I started. I went heavy on individual stocks in my early days. But it didn’t take long for me to transition to index funds as my primary holdings.

I have a column coming in two weeks outlining some of my early stock market mistakes that centered on selling too soon. Draft Kings was one of them. I had a small stake I sold at $14.50 per share. The stock price currently sits at $43.32 (at the close on Feb. 29). I also recently unloaded a cannabis ETF five weeks before it shot up.

No matter the stock, if you believe in the companies you’re choosing, holding for a long time period is wise.

It really is amazing the amount of content that is available to folks dedicated to a more prosperous path. Thanks for the list. I've listened to a couple of these before and enjoyed them. I'll make sure to add Afford Anything and Million Bazillion to my rotation. Good looking out!

Isn’t it though? I’m ashamed for not taking advantage of it sooner, and one of my columns next week will touch on that.

I think you would like Afford Anything, and I know Martin would love Million Bazillion. Thank you, Cliff!

Hey Darnell, do you have a good podcast series for building wealth through real estate?

Hi Ray. Good to hear from you in the comments again. Millionaire Mindsets and Afford Anything often have guests who discuss their various strategies with real estate. But one of the most popular podcasts I know for real estate specifically is BiggerPockets. I've added it to my rotation as I start down the road to becoming a landlord.
