I spent the past two weekends binge-watching movies about money.
See, movies tend to bore me—except when they have a financial theme. I’ll gladly support Gladiator II when time permits—especially since the great Denzel Washington is in it. My all-time favorite actor is the only one who can get me to sacrifice 2 1/2 hours of my life for a movie. Generally, though, movies just don’t do it for me anymore.
I’ve morphed into a “book man,” even though I never thought I’d see the day. If I’m not learning something I can apply to enhance my family’s quality of life, I feel like I’m wasting my time.
But when I recently stumbled upon The Hidden Secrets of Money, a 10-part docuseries by financial educator Mike Maloney, I couldn’t look away. Maloney, a seasoned precious metals investor, dives deep into the global financial system, showing how it works and why it matters to each of us.
Forget three hours—six hours flew by faster than I expected.
This wasn’t like the movies I usually watch, and it’s certainly not just another financial documentary.
The Hidden Secrets of Money takes a deep dive into how the global financial system works, explaining why it matters to you and me. The series explores the fundamentals of money, banking, and economics in a way that’s easy to understand, helping you make sense of the financial systems that shape our world and how they impact our individual wealth.
Most episodes are around 30 minutes long. In them, you’ll learn about the history of money, fiat currency, inflation, the Federal Reserve, central banking, debt, and economic cycles. On Maloney’s website, you’ll find additional bonus features, including interviews and deeper insights.
I’m planning to watch the series again soon—this time with my family.
It’s the most all-encompassing money talk I’ve found yet, and it’s definitely worth your time.
So grab some popcorn, settle in, and get ready to get smarter about money.
Thanks for the referral. I'll check it out. What's something explained or explored that opened your eyes or helped you discover something you were unaware of?
